Back to Work- One Month In
Things are going well and getting better as we learn our new schedule with me back to work. Blue is doing so good with Anastasia during the day- taking her to the Zoo and Wild Animal Park so she can run and see all the animals. I love the pictures he sends while I'm at work- they are little reminders of why I'm working so hard and we are apart. I know she is happy and well taken care of- and she is always so happy to see me! Things sure have changed since the ol' milk supply days.

No Time to Blog- I got a Job!
I have so much to add- but no time to do it... I love my new job and I love the way our family is working with Blue home. Everyone is happy, everyone is healthy. We are blessed, we are busy and we are thanking God for every moment.

Happy 4th of July!
Our Fourth of July family tradition continued again this year with a full day at the park. Blue made hot dogs, corn, and burgers on the bar-b-que that were eaten by our church family before they could get cold. After filling up on food we took full advantage of the ice cream truck parked right next to us. It was hard to resist going back for more, but the long lines were a good deterrent. We enjoyed being outside all day, but it was a bit cold due to the lack of sunshine.
I didn't take very many pictures, I was busy playing with the baby and husband or helping out with our church.

When it came time for the fireworks we climbed up on top of the 4runner and enjoyed the view. It didn't take long before I was the only one on top- Blue took her down when she wasn't all that excited about the booming and they sat inside with the sun roof open watching from the drivers seat. We were able to enjoy the fireworks until something went wrong and they had to stop the show unexpectedly. Parked closest to the Police Headquarters, we knew there would be no grand finale when they took off to direct traffic moments after an abrupt stop. Four people ended up going to the hospital with 11 injured when a firework took it's own path.
As always, we missed all the traffic by staying behind to help our church pick up all the jumpers and displays. I have always enjoyed the fellowship from this event- year after year we are blessed to be part of a church that really does reach out to the community without a forceful hand. The children can just play- no strings attached. I didn't have a chance to help with the balloon station this year, but I did monitor the jumpers briefly and had a good time doing it. Until next year...

A Walk on the Beach
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
The month that flew by
May has so far been filled with friends and adventure. We have been to the beach several times and most recently to a Rodeo where Anastasia had the chance to ride a horse all by her self. She has made friends with her cousin Audrina, they are learning about sharing together as they play with chalk, legos, play kitchen and whatever else they can find outside. Every time Audrina and her family come over, Anastasia seems to have more letters in her vocabulary, 'O' being a big one this last month. They learn from each other and I love to watch them both.
We went to the beach with some friends this week and had a blast as expected. Anastasia played with her buddy Damien in the sand while we made and set up for a BBQ, hot dogs and hamburgers on the beach! mmmmmm mmmmmm!! Blue took her to the shore to let her play in the waves, she loved it. She toppled over when a big wave came- but was quick to get back on her feet and get going again. She and I both know she is safe in Daddy's arms- so I'm sure that had something to do with her swift return to play in the water. After that day at the beach, and a solid nap, we went to the Rodeo with the same friends- another great time by all! We were there on time so we got great seats to watch the girls with all their shiny western wear dancing in the arena before they let out the big o bulls. She watched with her Daddy from his shoulders on the side, but she really loved it when everyone would erupt with applause. "Yeah," she would join in as she clapped her hands with the crowd, it was wonderful.

Bye Bye!
What can I say? The girl loves to wish others a farewell as they drive by.
Bye! Bye bye bye! Bye!!!

Busted!
The toddler that runs around my house has a way of getting into things, she loves to explore and likes to do the things that Mommy and Daddy do. While I was getting ready for breakfast (peaches & pancakes), she decided to pull out all the wipes. I usually stop her immediately, but this time I took pictures. How do you scold that face?

Big Eater
We are venturing into new territory with food; it is both fun and a challenge. I am already starting to miss nursing, but am also looking forward to an improved bedtime routine in the next toddler stage.
Anastasia eats often and has already established favorites she'll finish before she moves on to what she eats because she is hungry. Top favorites now are anything with cheese or noodles- best when mixed- and peaches. She will, however, pass up anything to eat Harvest Peach Yogurt all by herself. This must be followed by a bath, no question. She loves the tub though, so it's a great system.
Since she is now allowed into the kitchen, she has found she loves to stand with the refrigerator open so she can reorganize all the contents. I'm looking forward to letting her use some of them (lots of colorful baby food, mustard, yogurt, etc) in an art project when the summer sun hits. Imagine the bath after that!? She'll be able to eat and play- sounds like fun to me!

My baby is growing up, and just like everyone says, she is doing it fast!

Before Baby
I just found this little 'about me' from September 2008 and thought I would share...
"My husband and I are expecting our first on December 31, 2008. We have been together for nearly 7 years, but were just married 08-08-08... married life is great, I wish we wouldn't have waited so long- but God's plan always falls into place.
We plan to name our new little girl Anastasia Lea, and are so excited to have her join our simple life. I work at a bank and he installs solar panels. We live in Temecula, CA- just moved out of San Diego county when we found out we were pregnant... the pace is a little slower here and we can focus on growing our family and not the 'rat race' that is so often seen in San Diego.
Before getting pregnant my husband and I played softball about 3 times a week, he still gets to once or twice a week- I still like to watch him, and I do the scorebook- but there is nothing like playing. We have a simple, yet busy lifestyle. We enjoy the outdoors- things like going to the desert or river; and we go to church (Assembly of God- Christian) every week. We both find it keeps us 'in line' and focused on the important things in life. We would not be where we are today if it wasn't for our church family and wonderful Pastor- everyone should have a support group like that.
While we are thrilled to have Anastasia join us later this year, I have had to do lots and lots of research on everything baby... I feel at a total loss sometimes. I will start reading a review about some book or product or idea and find there are just so many point of views, it's hard to decide if I like something or not. . . I was lost with the registry- so many things seemed pointless, and I know I had to have left off some important things just not even knowing.
My husband, Blue, wants to have another baby as soon as my body can handle it- he asked my doctor and she told him to wait at least 6 weeks before trying, so he's all excited for Valentines Day- that's a first! I want to have more after Anastasia, I just don't want to overwhelm myslef with a child under 1 and another pregnancy. As good as this one has gone (well, after the first 3 months) I can't say that it would be horrible, I just know that I could easily feel overwhelmed with a new baby- and just that, not even pregnant.
We have 2 pets already, Duke (a 7 pound pomeranian) and Blaze (an orange cat). Duke has been our baby for a few years now and we are excited to see how he will react to a baby in the house. We keep hearing horror stories about cats and babies, so we are not quite sure about what to do with her- I do not want to have to give her away but will have no choice if I feel our baby is in danger. I need to do more research- I just keep thinking that we are responsible enough to keep the cat away from the baby.
Okay, wow, I just wrote a lot... didn't mean to do that!! I think I'll bring this to a close for now. Kudos to you if you read this all the way through!!"
It sure is crazy to read- and Oh how things change!

First Easter Egg Hunt

We went to the park today to collect eggs in our first family Easter Egg Hunt. The camera battery was only charged enough for a few minutes, so we tried to make the best of them. She did a great job collecting the eggs after watching the kids for a few minutes to see what they were all doing.

Home Sweet Home
With the Denali in the shop and the bug broke down at Grandmothers, it's needless to say I've been spending a lot of time at home. To make things easier we go outside to walk the dogs twice a day (before and after her nap) to the end of the property line- stopping at the mailbox each of the 4 times we pass it because it's so much fun to open and look inside. She seems to sleep better after a good game of follow the leader too.
She is talking more and more, using words more and more too. I will sometimes sit for so long to listen to what she is saying to figure out what she is trying to say. 'wa wa' is water, she has only used it a few times and did so in a very loud way... but I still gave it to her. I have yet to figure out what 'a-da-ga-tuah' means, but she is usually determined to say it. I'll hear it over and over as fast as she can repeat it sometimes.

Damage Control
Earlier this month, a semi truck clipped a SDG&E power cord that was hanging low (because it had grown through a tree?) right behind the fence to our backyard. The truck didn't realize the damage he caused, he was just lost and looking for a way out; but the effects were immediately known in our home when the heater sounded like it blew up and then caught fire. I screamed 'FIRE' and got out of the way knowing Blue would be there (from the living room) in a flash. He came to our rescue and got the heater outside; then he was on to damage control. The power box normally on the pole up above was now plowed into my father-in-law's backhoe, causing the glass windows to break and put a major dent in the cab.
The electric workers spent all day working, and we were able to get power back on just as darkness was settling in. We lost our stove, heater, AC, Internet router, VCR, and a few other things when the power surge came back to our house after the power box fell. We were lucky though, our neighbors didn't have power for a week!
It was a long day without power, but we had a great time playing outside. The baby kept us both busy studying rocks, dirt and other icky things found on the ground out of the way of the workers.

Long Lost Photos
I found a chip... well, actually... Anastasia found a chip to an old camera with pictures on it- Jackpot! Finding old pictures not known of is like treasure to me, I love pictures and take far too many because of it.
Anastasia's Grandmother on her Daddy's side with Duke- back when HE was the baby.
A sneak peek of what was to come- big changes for Duke!
Kissy Kissy
Where we fell in love, we also exchanged vows seven years later.
Mom, Trent and Desteny when they came to visit for the summer- LOVE YOU GUYS!!

The Slide at the Park
Even though it has been a little cold, we went to the park today and had a great time on the slide.
Today was a big deal. I got to watch Anastasia go down the slide almost all by herself. According to her Daddy, it is something the two of them have done a few times- but today was the first time I participated in the fun. She loved it, and it reminded me that she can do more than I think.
